Architecture Project #5

We took the children to Crown Center to look at the different architecture. The staff was really cool as they let us ride up and down the window elevator at the Westin Crown Center Hotel and we viewed the indoor waterfall. The trip really gave the children the idea that an architect could plan any thing inside a building. When we got back to school the children started their journals and were drawing waterfalls, playgrounds, gyms, and other neat things in their buildings.

Llevamos a los niños a Crown Center para ver la arquitectura diferente. El personal fue realmente genial, ya que vamos a andar arriba y abajo de la ventana del ascensor en el Westin Crown Center Hotel y vimos la cascada interior. El viaje que realmente le dio a los niños la idea de que un arquitecto puede planificar cualquier cosa dentro de un edificio. Cuando volvimos a la escuela los niños y comenzó a nuestras revistas a los niños se acercaban cascadas, parques infantiles, gimnasios y otras cosas interesantes en sus edificios.

Architecture Project #4

We took the children out into their own environment or community to see the different types of architecture. As a group we walked along Gladstone Blvd in KCMO just a short distance from our school. Before our walk the children were shown examples of stone, brick, and wood, so that they could be able to identify what material was used to make the houses.The highlight of the trip was the Kansas City Museum. As the children represented the building through drawings they also discussed the different features of the building. Excerpt: Daily Journal 3/14

Llevamos a los niños hacia su propio entorno o de la comunidad para ver los diferentes tipos de arquitectura. Como un grupo que caminaba a lo largo de Gladstone en Blvd. KCMO a poca distancia de la escuela. Antes de la caminata de los niños se mostraron ejemplos de piedra, ladrillo y madera, para que puedan ser capaces de identificar qué material se utilizó para hacer el punto culminante houses.The del viaje fue el Museo de la Ciudad de Kansas. Architecture Project #3

After our book reading we talked about a foundation and went to the basement of the school. The discussion was focused on the basement being the start of our school building, or the foundation. We worked our way up to the school entrance and then up to the gym, and finally up to the school's bell tower and on to a small landing outside the bell tower. In small groups the children came out onto the landing and looked at the ground below. The children noticed skyscrapers in the sky.

Después de la lectura de nuestro libro hemos hablado de una base y se fue al sótano de la escuela. La discusión se centró en el sótano es el comienzo de nuestro edificio de la escuela, o la fundación. Nos abrimos paso hasta la entrada de la escuela y luego hasta el gimnasio, y finalmente hasta el campanario de la escuela y en un pequeño descanso fuera de la torre del campanario. En pequeños grupos, los niños salieron al rellano y miró al suelo. Los niños notado rascacielos en el cielo.

Architecture Project #2

We were welcomed into the library by Ms. Juarez where books related to building and architecture was displayed attractively around the library. After a brief explanation of how books are used to find out more about something and introducing the word research, the children set off to explore the books. As the children were looking through the books they began to ask questions and have inquiries about architecture. Excerpt: Daily Journal 3/8

Fuimos recibidos en la biblioteca de la Sra. Juárez donde los libros relacionados con la construcción y la arquitectura se muestra atractiva por la biblioteca. Después de una breve explicación de cómo los libros se utilizan para obtener más información acerca de algo y la introducción de la investigación de la palabra, los niños se lanzan a explorar los libros. Mientras los niños estaban mirando a través de los libros comenzaron a hacer preguntas y consultas sobre la arquitectura. Extracto: Daily Journal 3.8

Architecture Project #1

When we started our project we asked our parents of they would come in and allow me to explain some of the objectives that we wanted to meet within the project and to have their participation in planning activities, school-to-home connections, and trips into the environment. The families came up with great ideas and it was very fulfilling as an educator to include my families in the curriculum planning. Thanks Friends-Mr.Nick

Cuando comenzamos nuestro proyecto les preguntamos a nuestros padres de que venía y me permite explicar algunos de los objetivos que queremos cumplir en el proyecto, ya que su participación en las actividades de planificación, las conexiones de la escuela al hogar, y los viajes en el medio ambiente. Las familias llegaron con grandes ideas y fue muy fufilling como educador para incluir a mi familia en la planificación curricular. Gracias amigos-Mr.Nick

Right Foot Two Stomps!!

Friday the pre-k performed the Cha-Cha Slide as part of our schools fine arts showcase. Ms. Rachel Drummond is the kids dance teacher and she does a great job using dance to progress the children's physical development. Viernes, el pre-kindergarten realizó la diapositiva Cha-Cha, como parte de nuestras escuelas escaparate de bellas artes. La Sra. Rachel Drummond es la profesora de baile los niños y ella hace un gran trabajo con la danza para el progreso de desarrollo de la física de los niños.

I came across this clip that I wanted to share. The clip shows two of our students reading the book "The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything" The story is interactive and gives visual and text clues when to make certain noises. We read the story during the fall. This is a fun video that makes me laugh when I watch it.-Mr.Nick

If you have been folowing the blog or you are a parent of our students you have probably seen or heard stories of the work that Ms.B has done with our pre-k. Ms. B is Brianne Teevan creater of Bambini Creativi. Bambini Creativi is an Early Learning Educational Preschool that practices the Reggio Emilia Approach and believes in the great potential all children have, giving them every opportunity to explore and find new questions and discover new answers.

SVN Pre-K is proud to announce that Ms. Teevan is now a member of SVN Charter School. Ms. Teevan will be consulting and aiding staff on projects, classroom design,and documentation. Check out this video that SVN third grade has made to welcome her to our school.

Read Across America
